NikkiLash Adhesive FAQ

Helpful answers for professional lash artists about NikkiLash adhesives, application, humidity, retention, storage, shipping, and returns.

Adhesive Questions

Is there formaldehyde in your eyelash adhesives?

Formaldehyde is not an added ingredient in any NikkiLash adhesive.

Are NikkiLash adhesives latex-free?

Yes. NikkiLash adhesives are latex-free and waterproof. Clients with known sensitivities should always consult their lash professional and patch-test when appropriate.

What are the ingredients in your adhesives?

Key ingredients include Ethyl Cyanoacrylate and Polymethyl Methacrylate, commonly used in professional eyelash extension adhesives.

For a full ingredient list or SDS/MSDS sheet, please email us at hello@nikkilash.com.

Which adhesive is right for my client?
BADASS ONE™

Best for experienced artists who want speed, strength, and long retention.

BADASS SENSITIVE™

Best for clients who may be more sensitive to fumes or odor while still needing professional performance.

BADASS SENSITIVE+™

Best for extremely sensitive clients who need the gentlest no-fume, no-odor option.

How long does adhesive last once opened?

Replace your adhesive after 6 weeks once opened, or sooner if it becomes gummy, stringy, thick, or inconsistent. Adhesive naturally polymerizes over time after opening, which can reduce performance.

Can I freeze unopened adhesive bottles?

Yes. Unopened bottles may be frozen for up to 12 months. Before use, allow the bottle to sit at room temperature for at least 6 hours before your appointment.

Application Questions

What is the ideal temperature and humidity for lash extensions?

NikkiLash adhesives perform best around 66°F–73°F with humidity around 40%–65%.

High heat, excessive moisture, or very dry air can affect adhesive consistency, curing speed, and retention.

Professional tip: Keep a hygrometer in your lash room so you can monitor temperature and humidity before blaming the adhesive.

What do I do if my humidity is too high or too low?

Humidity Too High — Above 70%

  • Your adhesive may cure too fast, reducing working time.
  • Use a dehumidifier to bring room humidity down.
  • Work in smaller sections to compensate for faster curing.
  • Consider BADASS SENSITIVE™ or BADASS SENSITIVE+™ if you need more working time.

Humidity Too Low — Below 40%

  • Your adhesive may cure too slowly, increasing dry time and reducing retention.
  • Use a nano-mister lightly over completed work to support curing.
  • Do not over-mist. Too much moisture at once can cause shock polymerization or white residue.
  • Consider BADASS ONE™ for faster curing in drier conditions.

Professional tip: The sweet spot for NikkiLash adhesives is 40%–65% humidity at 66°F–73°F.

Do you recommend using a primer before applying lash extensions?

Yes. We recommend using a protein remover or lash primer to clean natural lashes before application. This helps remove oils, proteins, makeup residue, and debris so the adhesive can bond more consistently.

How much adhesive should I use per extension?

Use the thinnest, most uniform coating possible. A small micro-dot at the base of the extension is usually enough.

Too much adhesive can cause blooming, stickies, excess weight, and a less clean finish. Too little adhesive can lead to poor attachment and premature shedding.

Professional tip: If you are seeing blooming or stickies, reduce the amount of adhesive before adjusting anything else.

How long should I shake the adhesive before use?

Shake well for 30–60 seconds before each use to help ensure consistent adhesive performance.

Is it safe to do lash extensions on pregnant clients?

Lash extensions have not been formally tested during pregnancy. For clients who are pregnant or highly sensitive, many artists prefer a lower-fume or no-fume option such as BADASS SENSITIVE+™.

However, clients should consult their healthcare provider before service.

Retention Questions

How long do NikkiLash adhesives last?
BADASS ONE™

Up to 7 weeks retention.

BADASS SENSITIVE™

Up to 4.5 weeks retention.

BADASS SENSITIVE+™

Up to 2.5 weeks retention.

Retention depends on proper application, client aftercare, room conditions, adhesive freshness, and artist technique.

Why is my retention poor?

Poor retention is usually caused by one or more of the following:

  • Humidity or temperature outside the recommended range during application
  • Too much or too little adhesive applied
  • Natural lashes not properly cleaned or primed before application
  • Adhesive past its recommended opened-bottle life
  • Oil-based products used by the client after application
  • Adhesive not shaken properly before use
  • Working too slowly, causing the adhesive to skin over before bonding
  • Poor attachment or not enough contact at the base of the natural lash

Professional tip: Start by checking your room conditions first. Temperature and humidity are often the easiest retention issues to identify and correct.
